Memorial trees
The listed tree price is $633.41 plus HST. Submit by July 1 for the current planting cycle; later applications are considered the following year. Planting happens from late September to late December.
Lake Ontario Park, Elevator Bay, Breakwater Park and Navy Park have filled their memorial tree spaces and are not accepting applications. Staff consider each application individually and only plant in approved areas. Tree choice depends on nursery availability.
Tree care and plaques
The City arranges planting and a plaque. The usual plaque is black, about five by five-and-one-quarter inches, with a recommended message of 250 characters. A dead tree is replaced in the following planting season. Damage or vandalism should be reported to 613-546-0000 or contactus@cityofkingston.ca.
The source lists tree choices but its native/non-native headings include cultivars and hybrids. Ask staff for suitable species rather than interpreting that list as a botanical classification reference.
Memorial benches
A bench can carry up to two separate dedication plaques. The ten-year commitment is $1,101.28 plus HST; a further ten years is $734.25. At the end, the plaque can be requested back.
The standard plaque is two by six inches, with 60 to 80 characters recommended. Confederation Park is excluded. Apply through MyKingston and wait for staff to discuss an available bench rather than choosing any existing park bench.
