Which permission applies
First Capital Place includes Springer Market Square, Memorial Hall and Confederation Park. The City determines whether the event needs a special-event permit or one-time park permit from the application. All events require insurance.
Disclose food, alcohol, sound, tents, stages, inflatables, rides, lotteries, fireworks and generators. These features can require separate approvals; the event permit does not automatically license vendors.
Plan enough time
For fewer than 500 attendees a day, the City asks for at least 90 days. Events in the 500 to 5,000-plus range should start 12 to 18 months ahead. Apply through MyKingston or request an alternate format.
Business licence review is separate and takes at least 20 business days. Vendors and transient specific-day sales may need their own licences. Film permission is handled separately by Tourism Kingston’s Film and Media Office.
Charges and venue details
Park rentals have half-day maximum five hours or full-day maximum ten. Below 500 attendees, listed charges are $455.09 and $650.13; large events are $632.39 and $886.59. Mega full-day events are $1,144.82. HST and other permits are additional.
